NMSI Unveils 2019-20 Annual Report

2020 was a year of incredible challenges – and 2021 has continued to put our country, schools and communities to the test.

During such times, our role at the National Math and Science Initiative is to recognize and acknowledge the realities we all face, to give grace to ourselves and those around us and to muster the strength to find new ways of serving the communities, schools, teachers and students who are part of the NMSI family.

We’re excited to publish our 2019-20 Annual Report, proud of the achievements our team members were able to reach and humbled by the trust of our donors and education partners.

A celebration of NMSI isn’t complete without a celebration of the educators, students and partners we serve. Our Annual Report highlights teachers like Shana Martin of Jonesboro, GA. Shana has embraced NMSI’s online teacher cohorts, where educators share resources and ideas that benefit all their students. We salute students like William Scanlon, a military-dependent student in California who dived deep in his advanced courses with help from NMSI’s online student study sessions. And, looking forward, we warmly welcome the school systems and campuses joining the NMSI family for the 2021-22 school year.

To quote a letter from CEO Dr. Bernard Harris and NMSI Board Chairwoman Dr. Shirley Malcom, “We have no desire to repeat 2020, but we are grateful for our team, our funders and our NMSI family. We are grateful to everyone who faced the challenges, saw the opportunities and took up the mantle of service to others.”

Our Annual Report has links to videos, financial reports and stories across our website. We hope you will dig in, find a potential connection and reach out so we can find new ways to jointly serve even more educators, students and communities.
