Summer Series

Summers are meant for

empowering teachers

With continuing uncertainties about travel and large gatherings, NMSI's AP-focused College Readiness Program and Laying the Foundation Summer Institutes will not happen in the four-day, in-person events many of you have experienced.

NMSI is accelerating its addition of blended (in person and online) teacher professional development. We’re excited about this move because it gives you more choice and flexibility on when and how you receive training – without losing the unique hands-on experience and networking. Based on work with cohorts of NMSI teachers who have experienced blended professional development, we’re confident you will enjoy the new model.

This new design will provide IACET-recognized continuing education credits and will help teachers meet professional development standards in planning, content and instruction, and data analysis. It begins with the NMSI Summer Series from July 13-24, 2020.

The NMSI Summer Series is a two-week online conference for educators based on our renowned College Readiness Program and Laying the Foundation Summer Institutes. Participants experience a variety of session types that are designed to prepare you for the upcoming school year. This includes deep content support and pedagogical learning that fits your specific needs.

Throughout the year, NMSI will provide additional training opportunities including embedded practice courses, regional workshops and on-demand teacher supports.

"[Laying the Foundation] has changed my way of teaching. It's changed my understanding, it's changed how I teach math. I can't express how grateful I am to NMSI because it really put me on a different level."
Mary Beth Lawhon, Calculus Teacher, CA

"I highly recommend [Laying the Foundation] for anybody. It's a lot of fun doing labs, getting to meet and interact with people. I'm always looking for new labs, especially as a new teacher, and creative ways to make the wheels turn in my students' heads." Tara Hartman, Middle School Science Teacher, FL
