Give Thanks by Giving to Students

November is a quintessential time to give thanks. We believe one of the best ways to thank a teacher, student, friend or family member is to invest in their education.

With #GivingTuesday right around the corner, we hope you’ll consider giving to NMSI. Every dollar you donate gives students, teachers and schools the resources they need to thrive.

Here are real stories from teachers and students who, alongside thousands of others, benefit from your willingness to donate and #BringOpportunityCloser.

Giving to Teachers

"Originally I thought NMSI was just 'another AP thing.' I felt right away though that it was much more, it's very built out, and I appreciate the mentorship resource. I couldn’t believe we had such a variety of tests, and the community of teachers who comment on the experiments goes beyond any normal training that a school could just pay for a day."

"Because NMSI pulls from so many sources, they have things I hadn’t thought about and experiments I’d never done. Now I am trying to figure out how I can fit it all in. They make it hard to pick and choose."

-Jose Sandoval, AP Physics teacher, IL

Giving to Students

"I get test anxiety when it's time for me to sit down and take a standardized test like that, so the tips, tricks and strategies that NMSI provided helped me succeed."

Breanna Ramsey, student, MI

“I was very fortunate to move to Grovetown for the exact three years that NMSI was there. They provided really good support for my AP classes. They had the Saturday Sessions, which I loved. Teachers flew from across the U.S. to teach us on Saturdays and it gave us a different perspective to learn from, which was really cool for us.”

-Christina Toler, student, GA

Giving to Success

"Prior to NMSI, my school had not had one student to earn a qualifying score on the AP Language & Composition exam. Not one. But after NMSI, 20 students for the last two test administrations have earned a 3 or higher. We even had one student earn the first 5 our first year with NMSI!

Giving to NMSI will allow this great work by brilliant people to continue.  Giving to NMSI means giving to schools like mine and to teachers just like me who are desperate to acquire the necessary skills and content knowledge to positively impact student-learning! Giving to NMSI means seeing students who otherwise may not have earned a qualifying score on their AP exams realize that they have a real chance at going to and succeeding in college!

I thought I knew how to move my students from good to great prior to NMSI.  Now, I know with a surety how to help ALL of my students learn and take ownership of their learning."

-Denise King, AP English teacher and NMSI Consultant, GA

Want to make a difference but not sure where to start? With Giving Tuesday right around the corner, here are 3 ways you can help:

  1. Make a one-time donation. Any amount you give makes a difference. $50 can cover classroom supplies for one AP course for a student like Alexis.

  2. Set up a recurring gift. Your contribution can fund AP exam fees for students like Joshua or enable one-on-one mentoring for teachers like Muhammad.
